Long Island Express Swimming

Long Island Express Swimming is a member club of USA Swimming, training at the Hofstra University Swim Center. We have been in existence for over 23 years. We have added an additional site for our program at Jericho High School. Our program offers professional instruction for the novice student as well as the National caliber athlete.

Long Island Express Learn to Swim Program

Lessons are offered at Jericho High School on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for 1 hour (6:30-7:30pm & 7:30-8:30pm).

Holiday Skating Party Dec 30

The entire Express coaching staff would like to wish all team members and their families a happy holiday season and a healthy and happy new year. Once again Express will be hosting a holiday party at the Rinx Ice Skating Park located at 660 Terry Road in Hauppague. The party will be on Tuesday, December 30th from 11-1pm and all team members and their families are invited for a 2 hour skating session, skate rentals and lunch are included. Please join us, we hope to see you all out for a fun afternoon of skating.

Meet Schedule Additions

Two meets have been added to the Express Swimming Meet Calendar.

The eligibility reports for both meets are posted on the bulletin board at Hofstra. Swimmers at the Hofstra pool should sign-up by placing a check next to their name on the eligibility report on the bulletin board. Jericho swimmers should sign up for the meet with their coaches at Jericho. The sign-up deadline for both meets is Friday, January 2, 2009.

Express Meet – January 16-18, 2009

We are hosting the 2009 Winterfest at Hofstra on Friday, Jan 16 through Sunday, Jan 18. This meet is for all Express swimmers.

The eligibility report for the 2009 Winterfest is posted on the bulletin board at Hofstra. Jericho swimmers should sign up with their coaches at Jericho. The sign-up deadline for this meet is Friday, January 2, 2009.

Team Equipment

The team equipment has arrived. If you placed an order, you may pick it up at the Hofstra pool during practice hours. Please see Regina Warren.

Taking the Express Lane to Buffalo

14 swimmers from Long Island Express qualified for the Girls New York State High School Championships held in Buffalo on November 21-22.

Express Scholastic All Americans

United States Swimming has announced its Scholastic All America Team for the 2007-2008 Season. Two swimmers from Long Island Express have been recognized for their success in the pool and in school.

We are proud of the accomplishments of both Michael Ahern and Susan Nugent.

Mickey, a 2008 graduate of Wheatley High School, is a 3 time recipient of this award. Mickey is currently a freshman at Dartmouth College where he will continue his swimming career.

This is the second time that Susan Nugent has been named a Scholastic All American. She is a senior in high school and a captain of the Sewanhaka District Swim Team.
